Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party – Part 3

See Part 1 and Part 2 of our MNSSHP experience.

As soon as the parade ended, we headed for Main Street to see the Princesses and their Princes meeting at Town Square Theater
On our way our of Liberty Square, though, we spotted Tiana and Naveen at their gazebo and there wasn’t anyone in line. We even asked if it was open because the first time we met Tiana, we waited 45 minutes. It was open so yay!

It was a nice little bonus that we hadn’t planned.

Next, we continued to the other princesses and princes. The parade was still going down Main Street, so we cut through the stores all the way to the front on the street. It was a good strategy – we beat the crowds and saved ourselves a seriously long wait! The sign said the wait was 50 minutes but we were in and out in 20.

The first royal couple we met at Town Square was Snow White and her Prince. (Tom asked The Prince his name. He said it was Ferdinand, but most people just call him The Prince.)

Luke decided to hide from Snow White for some reason.

At first she was upset.

Then they made up.

Snow White is just adorable!

Next, we met Cinderella and Prince Charming. I loved them! They were really lovey dovey – so cute, and authentic!

They both took a lot of time to talk to the kids. So sweet.

Our final couple was Rapunzel and Flynn Rider.

I have to say, Flynn Rider was THE BEST. He kind of stole the show from Rapunzel.

He saw us and said “Oh, pirates! Of the Neverland variety!” He also knew who Izzy was, which most of the characters did not (Jasmine pretty much insisted Scarlett was actually Boo.)

It was good times.

Tom totally bonded with Flynn. He said Flynn was like Han Solo. I think it was appreciated.

Meeting the Princes with the Princesses was so much fun. Totally made the MNSSHP admission price worth it!

That about wrapped it up. We left the park at about 11:45pm and getting back to our car wasn’t too bad. Before we left, we got a great Halloween photo on Main Street.

I wish we could go 2 or 3 more times to do some of the things we missed. Guess we’ll just have to go again next year!

Summer Road Trip: Storyland in New Orleans

On our way out of New Orleans, we made a stop at Storyland, a fun storybook-themed play area.

It was very hot and humid, as expected, but the park was shady and the kids adored the place. Plus it only cost $3 per person.

It featured many of our favorite stories, and more!

Some highlights:

  • Captain Hook’s Ship

  • Pinocchio’s Whale

  • Cinderella’s Pumpkin Carriage

  • Dragon Slide

  • Firetruck

  • Rocket Ship

We also played at a gingerbread house, Jack & Jill’s hill, the Three Little Pigs’ houses, and an Alice in Wonderland crooked house, as well as admired a mermaid in a fountain, a Rapunzel statues, and mother goose flying through the air.

The absolute favorite part of the visit, however, was Snow White.

Asleep and under a spell outside of the dwarfs’ cottage, Snow White just had to be woken up!

Scarlett searched high and low at Storyland for a prince to kiss Snow White and wake her up.

No help from a dwarf.

Luke’s kiss was ineffective.

Even Rapunzel couldn’t get the job done.

Scarlett was kind of distraught! She did NOT want to leave Snow White under the spell of the poison apple.

We pretty much had to drag her out of there. Luckily, I had the movie Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs on my iPad so she could see that eventually, the prince would come to wake Snow White up. Phew! Now Scarlett says, “Snow White ate a poison apple, but she got through it.” Funny girl!

We left through the clock, and were on our way to the last two stops on our trip: a pit stop in Alabama, then on to Chattanooga, Tennessee!

Epcot World Showcase: Meeting Snow White in Germany

Scarlett was delighted to meet Snow White on our visit to Epcot.

This was a popular meet & greet, and we got in a long-ish line before she came out for photos. The line moved quickly, though and Scarlett got to see Snow White the whole time we waited. Again, Luke wasn’t interested in meeting princesses, so Scarlett got a picture solo.

We had been singing along to Heigh-Ho over and over in the car this trip, so it was nice to put a face with the song!

Disney Princess Sensory Bin: Snow White

Snow White is Scarlett’s favorite Disney movie (she likes the oldies!). She especially loves Sneezy. I put together this Snow White sensory bin for her.

Originally I was going to use Epsom Salt for “snow” but then I discovered black eyed peas feel a lot like wood. I used them instead, for a forest-y feel. (I LOVE them, and I’m still running my fingers through the bin on a daily basis. I might make a black eyed pea sensory bin for myself!)
I also added:
Sliced red apple (non-poisoned)
Red plastic jewels for the Dwarfs’ mine
Tin foil for the Magic Mirror
Snow White and Evil Queen figures

This was a short-lived activity, because the apples got brown pretty fast, and the til foil got crumpled. I would like to use little craft mirrors in the future; I’m just not sure if the kids could cut themselves with them.

I might make another one if I can get my hands on some dwarf figures. I think it would be cool to do one with a mining theme.
